Recent updates in Microsoft Edge have introduced stricter security controls. These changes can block websites from communicating with applications running on your device unless explicit permissions are granted.
Zoho WorkDrive relies on this communication to connect with the WorkDrive Genie desktop app. If the required permissions are not enabled, Edge may behave as if WorkDrive Genie is not installed, even when it is running.
You can enable this permission using any one of the following methods:
Option 1: Using Microsoft Edge settings shortcut
Configuring Loopback Network
- Open Microsoft Edge.
- In the address bar, enter:
edge://settings/privacy/sitePermissions/allPermissions/loopbackNetwork

- Press Enter.
- Under Allowed to access other apps and services on this device, click Add site.

- Add your WorkDrive URL along with the “:443” port, such as:

- Return to WorkDrive and refresh the page.
- Try opening the file again.
Using Microsoft Edge settings window
Configuring Apps on device
- Click the three-dot menu (...) in the top-right corner of Edge.

- Select Settings.

- In the left pane, click Privacy, search, and services.
- Scroll down and select Site permissions.
- Click All permissions.
- Open Apps on device.

- Under Allowed to access other apps and services on this device, click Add site.
- Add your WorkDrive URL along with the “:443” port, such as:
- Return to WorkDrive and refresh the page.
- Try opening the file again.
