Experiencing difficulty accessing a file or folder in WorkDrive? This issue may arise due to one of the following reasons:
- Issues with file access permission
- Account discrepancy
- Shared link may have expired
- File is moved or deleted
- Invalid URL
1. Issues with file access permission
Insufficient file access permission: If the file owner has not granted you permission to open the file, you may encounter difficulties accessing it.
Revoked file access permission: If someone has removed your permission to access the file, you may encounter challenges when attempting to open it.
- Internal users can request file access permission by following the steps below:
- Click on the link to open the file or folder. This will take you to the Request Access window.
- Click Request access.
- The file owner will receive an email and an in-app notification to approve your file access request. Once approved, you can open the shared file or folder.
- External users can only access the shared link when the file owner provides the required access to it.
2. Account discrepancy
Make sure you are signed in to the correct WorkDrive account linked to the shared file. Access to the file might be limited if you are logged in to a different account. Verify your email address and switch accounts, if needed.
To review your current logged-in email address:
- Click on the link to open the file or folder.
- In the top-right corner, click on the Profile icon. Here, you can verify your current logged-in email address and switch if necessary.
3. Shared link may have expired
The shared link may have expired. Please contact the file owner to obtain a new link for accessing the file.
4. File/Folder is moved or deleted
- If a file/folder has been moved to a new location where you don't have sufficient permissions to access it, it will result in a link not valid error. In such a situation, you need to contact the file owner to obtain access permissions.
- If a file has been deleted, the shared link will become invalid. Similarly, if the shared folder or its parent folder is deleted, the shared link will no longer work.
5. Invalid URL
At times, the shared URL might be incorrect. In such cases, please contact the file owner to obtain the correct URL and try again.
