How to design templates or create documents using AI in Zoho Writer
Overview
Zia now enables you to design templates or create different types of business documents such as sales orders, resumes, and proposals with easy-to-use prompts. You can choose between Zoho's AI or OpenAI to design templates or create documents.
Prerequisites
If you wish to use OpenAI to generate documents, you need to add your OpenAI API key from your own OpenAI account (ChatGPT 4 or higher) in Zoho Writer to enable this integration. Steps to add your OpenAI key in Zoho Writer.
Steps
How to generate documents from Writer's dashboard
- Go to the Zoho Writer dashboard, Create New -> Document using AI.
- A dialog will open with a pre-generated prompt, which you can customize as needed.
- Click Generate. Zoho Writer will generate and display the document in three different styles (Professional, Modern, and Casual).
- Click Preview or Regenerate to preview or regenerate the document.
- Click Use This to convert the generated document to a new Writer document. You can also convert the document into an automation template (merge, fillable, or sign).

- Open a Writer document, File menu -> New Document -> Document using AI.

How to convert the generated document into an automation template
- Open the generated document in Zoho Writer.
- Click the Automate tab to display the automation template options.
- Select your preferred automation template type to convert the document.
