Find Writer documents in GDrive

How can I find my Writer documents in GDrive?

To find your Writer document in Google Drive, follow these steps:

#1 If you have recently edited or created the document, you can use the Recent option on the left panel of your Google Drive account. This will show the documents that you recently opened or edited.

#2 By default, new documents created will be stored under My drive. However, if any of your folders were kept open when you were creating the document via Writer, Google Drive saves the new document in that particular folder, and not in My drive. Try searching for the document in any of your existing folders.

#3 If you're not sure of the document or folder name, you can search your Google Drive account using the criteria *.zdoc. This will list all your Writer documents available in your Google Drive account. You can locate and access the desired document from the result window.

Note:

  1. Every time you click on a document [ for ex: docx ], Zoho Writer will create a new copy of the document under Google Drive.

  1. When you click to open the same .docx document again, you will be prompted either to continue as a new edit or open the existing .zdoc document.

  2. In case, if multiple document copies have been created earlier and when you click to open the same .docx document again, you will be shown a drop down of these documents created previously. Click to open the recent document to continue with latest edits.

We suggest to edit using .zdoc document to avoid creating multiple copies. Also, your previous document edits will be saved in the latest .zdoc copy only.  Please try to work with the document that you have previously created using Writer to avoid duplication.
