Your text can sometimes get misaligned while converting the document to PDF if you're inserting space characters to align the text. To avoid this and to get your text accurately aligned, you can set your own tab stops in Writer. This will ensure that your text always stays aligned even when you print or convert it to PDF.
If you want to align a selected text, follow the below steps:
1. Open the Writer document.
2. Select the text you want to apply the Tab Stop to.
3. Click on the ruler where you want the Tab Stop to appear.
4. By clicking on the Tab Stop and selecting Insert Tab Stop , you can choose between Right, Left and Center alignments or even drag and drop the Tab Stop to a different location of your choice.
5. Now place the cursor in front of the text that you want to move to the desired Tab Stop and click on the Tab button on your keyboard. The text will move and get aligned accordingly. Repeat this step for all the selected texts that you want to move to the Tab Stop and it will move and align itself accordingly.
6. If you wish to access further settings, click on the Tab Stop from the ruler and go to Tab. You can change the Distance, Alignment and Leader settings here. If you wish to apply your Tab Stop throughout the document, you can change the default position in the Default Tab Stops option.
Note: Avoid using space key or tab keys to align content reliably on all platforms and devices.
