Let's see the types of writing styles and how Zia helps improve your writing quality in the sections below:
There are two main styles of writing:
Informal: Informal writing is similar to a relaxed spoken conversation. In this style, users use slang words, contractions, unclear phrases and so on. For example, wanna, yeah, a lot, etc,.
Formal: Formal style is less personal and used in academic or professional writing. It usually adds a clear meaning to your writing and uses a sophisticated vocabulary with terms. You should avoid cliches, metaphors and unclear phrases in formal writing.
Here is a list of things to avoid in formal writing:
Colloquial words are used in everyday speech that includes figures of speech, slang words, asides and so on. For example, awesome, wanna, kids, yeah, cute, a lot, etc.
In formal writing you can replace can't with cannot, doesn't with does not, and so on.
Phrasal verbs are way too informal to use in your business or academic documents. They can generally be used while speaking or writing an email to a friend.
Examples:
| Informal | Formal |
| find out | discover |
| cut out | excise |
| carry out | continue |
| call off | cancel |
