Performance monitoring for iOS apps

Overview

Application performance metrics help you to measure and monitor your app's performance. These metrics allow you to monitor and address any issues affecting your app proactively. Application performance monitoring helps you to:
  1. Avoid downtime.
  2. Identify and troubleshoot issues proactively.
  3. Keep your app's performance optimal.
iOS app's performance metrics are fetched from the App Store. You must link your App Store account from the Store Reviews page. You can refer to the user guide here.
  1. Navigate to Quality > Perf. Metrics.
  2. Performance metrics in the Apptics console can be viewed for different versions of the iOS apps released in the App Store.
  3. Click on a specific App version to get the detailed stats.

Metrics that you can analyze in the Apptics console

  1. Battery usage: The amount of battery used when the app is in foreground and while running in the background. It is measured in minutes/day.

  1. Disk writes: The amount of logical disk writes that happen in a day. It is measured in megabytes/day.

  1. Hang rate: The amount of time the app was unresponsive or there was a delayed response to user interaction. It is measured in seconds/hour.

  1. Launch time: The time it takes to launch the app after clicking the app icon and showing the first frame of the app. It is measured in milliseconds.

  1. Memory: The amount of RAM memory used by the app after entering the background state, i.e., memory at suspension, and the RAM used when the app is running in the foreground, i.e., peak memory. It is measured in megabytes.

  1. Scroll hitch rate: The amount of time that is consumed due to the brief pause or delay, i.e., hitches that occur while scrolling within the app. It is measured in milliseconds/second.

  1. Background termination: The average amount of non-user-initiated app terminations that happen when the app is running in the background. It is measured in terminations/day.

IMPORTANT: Metrics data depends on the availability of anonymized usage data from the App Store Connect. Therefore, there may be times when the data might not be available due to insufficient usage. If this happens, please check the metrics data for your app again after a few days.
