How to Set Up a Custom Domain in Zoho Cliq

A custom domain allows you to brand your Cliq organization with your own domain name. Once configured, your custom domain will replace cliq.zoho.com across:
  • The Cliq homepage
  • Migration tools page
  • All channel permalinks
  • The Admin Panel

NotesAdmin Note: Custom domain configuration is available only under the Paid plan and the Zoho One suite.

Steps to Set Up a Custom Domain in Cliq  

  1. Get Your Domain
  2. Ensure you own a custom domain purchased from a domain registrar.
  3. Log in to Your Domain’s DNS Settings. Access your domain hosting provider’s control panel.
  4. Locate the option to add a CNAME record (usually under DNS Records).
  5. Add the CNAME Record
  6. Name / Host / Alias / CNAME: Enter your preferred subdomain (e.g., www, chat, converse).
  7. Example: If your domain is zylker.org and your chosen CNAME is chat, your Cliq URL will be chat.zylker.org.
  8. Once you add a CNAME, map that entry with cliq.cs.zohohost.com (service URL) Refer the below table to add the one relevant to your data center.

InfoInfo: Changes usually take up to 48 hours.
  1. Update Cliq Admin Panel. Go to Admin Panel → Customization → Custom Domain.
  2. Enter your new domain (e.g., chat.zylker.org) in the Custom Domain field.
  3. Click Check to verify mapping.
  1. Activate Your Custom Domain
  2. Once verified, click Activate to make the domain live for all organization members.

Data Center Service URLs 

Use the correct service URL for your data center, we have used cliq.cs.zohohost.com as an example. Always check your Admin Panel for the correct service URL before updating DNS records.

HTTP to HTTPS Upgrade 

  1. Initially, your domain will be in HTTP mode.
  2. Our team will install an SSL certificate making your domain HTTPS secure.
  3. This process takes 3 business days after activation.
  4. During this time, cliq.zoho.com remains the default URL.

Scope 

The custom domain applies only to the Cliq application (https://cliq.zoho.com) and does not affect public pages on the Zoho website (e.g., www.zoho.com/cliq).
