Team channels help streamline collaborations within a team or across multiple teams. These channels are used for team members to discuss ideas, carry out day-to-day tasks, and set up meetings. You can create team channels for your company's different products or services. You can also create it for various departments such as #marketing, #development, and #sales.
If a channel is open to all users, any team member can find and join it at anytime. If it's a closed channel, you'll need an invite.
To check your team channels, click Channels in the left-sidebar. If a member belongs to more than one team channel, then the channel is listed under the team.
Admin Note :
You can set up your channel with permissions on who should send messages, edit info, add or remove participants, and so on. If you are an admin, you have access to make changes. However, you can also choose who the permissions are given to - an admin, a moderator, or a member.
To give permissions and configure settings:
- Click the Channel icon.
- Under Permissions, you will find Configuration and Permissions.
- Select the changes you need to make.
- The changes will be immediately reflected.
Consider the following example:
Zylker's marketing team has a team channel #Zylker Website. Here the team members discuss various marketing plans and ideas for the website. They also keep each other updated on the weekly progress, share links to important documents, and conduct meetings. The channel is a category under @Marketing.
