How do I create a Channel in Cliq?

There are two ways to create a channel. You can create it from Channels in the left navigation sidebar or the header.
To create a channel from Channels:
  • Go to Channels in the left navigation sidebar and click the + icon. You can also click Join and select the Create Channel button.

 

 

To create a channel in the header:
  • Click on Quick Actions ( + icon ) in the header.

  • Select Create a Channel in the dropdown list that appears.

 

In either way, a Create Channel dialog window opens.

 


You have the following options in the dialog window to select or enter:
  • Channel Level- There are four levels of channels, each serving a different purpose - OrganizationTeamPersonal and External. However, only the admin has access to all the levels; other members can create Organization, Team, and Personal channels.
  • Channel Image and Name - Upload a channel image and the name of the channel.
  • Select your Teams - You can select one team or multiple teams to the channel. However, you can only add up to 4 teams in a multi-team channel.
  • Visibility - The visibility of the channel can be Open to all or Closed. This option is applicable only while creating an organization or team channel. The Open to all option allows anyone to join, and the channel is searchable. The Closed option allows members to join on an invite, and the channel is not searchable.
  • Add Participants - You can enter the names of the participants and select from suggestions to add them to the channel. For External channels, you can type the email id of the participants if they do not appear on suggestions. When creating a channel, you can add up to 100 participants, but you can always add more later. The maximum number of participants you can add depends on the channel license plan of the organization.
  • Channel Description - Describe the purpose of the channel or operations to handle.
If you want to set to configure settings or grant permissions for certain actions, click on Advanced Configuration Settings. After entering the details required, select the Create Channel button.
 
Note:
  • To create a team channel, you must be a member of the organization's Teams. The admin must create these Teams in the admin panel.
  • If your organization's admin has enabled 'approval for organization channels' in policies, the admin will have to approve the organization channels you create.
