What is a guest chat?

Want to strike a conversation with a user outside Cliq? Do it with guest chat. Guest chat provides a platform to communicate with users who are not a part of Cliq by giving them the facility to interact without having to sign up in Cliq. Let's say your team is closing deals with a vendor who is not a part of Cliq. To communicate business, create a guest chat with the vendor and start collaborating on the go.

​Guest Chat feature is available in Unlimited plan of Cliq and in Zoho One.

How to start a guest chat?

To start a guest chat,

  1. Click on the quick action '' next to Search Bar and select Invite Guests.
  2. Enter one email id for 1-1 guest conversation or multiple email ids to create a group guest chat. 
  3. Click on Edit your invite email and customize your invite by adding a subject and a small description to it.
  4. Now click on the Send Guest Invite button. This will trigger an email with a link to the guest chat page. 
  5. All your guest chats will be available on search with a guest tag attached right next to them. 

How to create a group guest chat?

To start a group guest chat,

  1. Click on the quick action '' next to Search Bar and select Invite Guests.
  2. Enter the list of guest email ids you'd like to invite. 
  3. Give a title to your group chat. 
  4. Click on Edit your invite email and customize your invite by adding a subject and a small description to it.
  5. Now click on the Send Guest Invite button. This will trigger an email with a link to the guest chat page. 
  6. All your guest chats will be available on search with a guest tag attached right next to them. 

 If you are a guest user,

  1.  You would have received an email invite from the guest chat host.

2.  Click on the Let's chat button. This will direct you to the guest page for authentication via OTP.

3.  Simultaneously a fresh email containing a one time verification code will be generated when you click on the Let's chat button.

 4.  Copy paste the OTP and click on the Verify OTP button.


Note





  • The OTP generated is a 6 digit random number with an expiry time of 10 minutes.
  • Clicking the Remember me checkbox will preserve the details of the user during the time of registration, thereby eliminating the need to authenticate via OTP every time the user rejoins a guest chat.

 5. Give in your name and photograph to personalize your chat window.


6. Click on Start Chat to join the guest chat.

Managing guests in Cliq

The Manage guests option lets you manage all the guest chats you are part of.

  1.  All 
  2.  1-1 Guest chats
  3. Group guest chats

     

1-1 guest chats 

All 1-1 guest users will be displayed here including pending guests and blocked guests. 

Group guest chats

Lists all the group chats (Only those in which the Cliq user is a part of) with the guest user.

How to add participants in a group guest chat?

There are two ways in which you can add a participant,

  1. Invite guests: With this option you can add users who do not belong to your organization by adding their email address.
  2. Add org users: With this option you can add users who are already a part of your organization.

Clicking on a guest chat will direct you to a side pane with two tabs,

  1.  Members: This lists the members involved in the selected group guest chat along with the pending invites.
  2.  Recent chat: Displays recent messages shared in a conversation.

How to lock a group guest chat?

Hover on the group guest chat and click on the Lock Chat icon. Locking a group guest chat will prevent the guest user from further taking part in the conversation.


How to block a user in a 1-1 chat?

To block a guest user,

  1.  Click on your Profile picture and select Manage guests.
  2.  Hover on an active guest user, click on Actions (3 dots) and select Block guest.
  3.  To Unblock, hover over the user under Blocked guests and click on Unblock guest.

How to block a guest user in a group chat?

  1.  Click on your Profile picture and select Manage guests.
  2.  Click on a chat under the Group guest chats and in the right hand side pane hover over a member and click on Actions > Block guest.

Pending guests

Lists all the guests whose invite requests are yet to be accepted.

Note

You can resend an invite to a user using the Reinvite guest option.

Message actions that a guest user can perform

  1.  Edit a message
  2.  Copy a message
  3.  React to a message
  4.  Reply to a message 

 Additionally, guest users can upload files, add in code snippets and use the whiteboard.
