Getting Started

To get started with the Splitwise extension, please follow the steps below:
  1. Download the Splitwise extension from the Zoho Marketplace by clicking on this link.
  2. Install the extension on your Zoho Cliq account by clicking on the Install button.
  3. Once the installation is successful, you will receive a welcome message from the SplitwiseBot.
  4. The extension will request your confirmation to fetch your data from Splitwise. Upon pressing "Allow", a pop-up window will appear asking you to sign in to your Splitwise account.
  5. After signing in, the connection will be established, and you can begin working with the Splitwise extension

Splitwise (Bot)


Upon installation, the SplitwiseBot will be your first point of interaction. It will welcome you and provide you with three menu options:
  1. Add Expense - This option allows you to create a new expense by filling out an expense form. Once submitted, the expense will be added to your Splitwise account.
  2. Add Group - This option displays a new group form, which you can fill out to create a new group. Once you provide the group name and submit the form, a new group will be created in your Splitwise account.
  3. Configure Report - With this option, you can configure how frequently you want Splitwise to generate reports on your expenses. These reports provide a detailed analysis of your expenses and the categories in which you spend the most.
In addition to these menu options, the SplitwiseBot also parses messages that you send to it and automatically creates expenses in your Splitwise account.

/expense (Slash Command)

The /expense slash command is used to open the New Expense Group, where you can create an expense.

/syncusers (Slash Command)

The /syncusers command is used to sync the users of Cliq channel members and Splitwise group members.

Generate Expense (Message Action)

The messages sent through Cliq can be parsed into an expense using the message action feature.

Splitwise (Widget)

The Splitwise widget consists of three tabs: Expense, Group, and Stats.

Expense Tab:


In the Expense tab, you can view a list of all the expenses made by the user. The following actions can be performed on the expenses:
  1. Add Expense: Clicking on this option opens the Add Expense form, where you can enter the expense details such as amount, description, and share details for each person. It is mandatory to enter the amount and description. You can also select a category from a list of 50 expense categories, although it is not mandatory. The sum of paid and owed shares must equal the total amount. Up to 5 people can pay for the expense, and up to 10 people can have shares in the expense.
  2. Edit Expense: This option opens the Edit Expense form, where you can modify the details of an expense.
  3. Show Split-Up: By clicking on this option, you can view the shares of the expense listed below it.
  4. Show Comments: Clicking on this option displays the comments associated with the expense.
  5. Add Comment: This option opens the Add Comment form. After entering a comment and submitting the form, the comment is added to the expense.

Group Tab:


The Group tab lists all the groups of the user. The following actions can be performed within a group:
  1. Add Group: Clicking on this option displays the Add Group form, where you can create a new group by entering a group name and submitting the form.
  2. Add Friend: This option opens the Add Friend form, where you can select friends from a list to add them to the group.
  3. Remove Friend: Clicking on this option opens the Remove Friend form, where you can select friends from the group's list to remove them from the group.
  4. Add Expense: This option opens the Add Expense form, where expenses can only be split equally among all the group members.
  5. Show Expenses: By selecting this option, you can view the 30 most recent expenses made within the group.
  6. Associate Channel: Once a channel is associated with a Splitwise group, any expenses added, edited, or commented within the group will be updated in the associated Cliq channel.

Stats Tab:


The Stats tab displays expenses made by the user in Splitwise. It also includes a Filter Expense button that allows you to filter and view expenses made within a specific duration, with a specific group, or with a specific friend.
