Linear

Linear is a project management tool designed for software development teams. It helps teams manage tasks, track issues, plan sprints, and collaborate on projects. By integrating Linear with Zoho Cliq, you can instantly create an issue, view instant details on issues, and receive updates on various actions performed in Linear inside Zoho Cliq.

This extension is available in the following regions: US

Installation 

  • Go to the Zoho Cliq Marketplace and search for Linear, or install it directly from this link.

  • Choose whether to install the extension for your entire organization or specific teams.

  • Click on Take me to Cliq to start using the integration.

Bot 

The Linear bot has four options— Create Issue, Notifications, View and Help.

a. Create Issue:

  • You can create an issue using the Linear extension without leaving Cliq.

  • You will have to fill the following details in the Create Issue window:

  1. Title: A concise, clear summary of the issue.

  2. Description: A more detailed explanation of the issue.

  3. Team: Select the appropriate team responsible for handling this issue.

  4. Workflow State: Choose the status of the issue in your workflow from the following options—Backlog, Cancelled, Done, In Progress, Duplicate, and Todo.

  5. Project: Select the specific project this issue relates to.

  6. Assignee: Choose the person responsible for addressing the issue.

  7. Due Date: Set a deadline for when the issue needs to be completed.

  8. Priority: Assign a priority level to indicate the urgency of the issue from the options—No priority, Urgent, High, Medium, and Low.

  9. Label: Use labels to categorize the issue based on specific criteria, such as—Bug, Feature, and Improvement.

  • Click Create once the details are filled.

  • The issue will be created and it will be previewed in the bot chat. You choose to post in the chat, forward or close the preview.

  • You can edit and delete the issue from the Linear bot chat window. 

b. Notifications:

  • You can map channels and receive notifications via the Linear bot.

i. Map Channel:

  • Click on Map Channel.

  • You will receive a message card. Click Create Webhook and Allow access.

  • Map the necessary details and click Map.

  • You will receive a confirmation in the bot chat window.

  • Now, all the updates will be notified in the mapped channel.

ii. Unmap Channel:

  • Click on Unmap Channel.

  • You will have option to either Unmap or Edit from bot window.

  • The channel will not be notified once it is unmapped from a Linear project.

iii. My Alerts:

  • You can choose to receive bot notifications on several actions.

  • You will receive a bot notification if any of the added notification is performed.

c. View:

  • Click on View in the Linear bot message composer to view the issues based on—Today's Issues, Upcoming Issues, and Overdue Issues. 

i. Today's Issues: Displays all your issues with a due date of today.

ii. Upcoming Issues: Displays all your issues with an upcoming due date.


iii. Overdue Issues: Displays all your issues whose due date has passed.

The following details will be shown in a table:

  1. Issue Title

  2. Team the issue belongs to

  3. Project Name

  4. Due Date (for upcoming issues)

  • You can also take actions such as Update to modify issue details.

d. Help:

  • Click on Help to receive an overview of what can be done with the Linear card.

Widget 

  • You have two windows in the Linear widget—Team/Projects and Reports.

a. Team/Projects:

  • You can create an issue, comment, update, change team, change project and apply filters.

  • Click on Comment on a task to leave a comment.

  • Click on Change Team to switch between teams.

  • Click on Change Project to switch between projects.

  • You can filter and find tasks based on Label, Status, Priority and Assignee.

  • The project will be filtered.

b. Reports:

  • The projects and issues will be visualized using charts in this window.

  • The charts will visualize the overall project scope, issues by assignees and labels, and last week's reports. 

Slash Commands 

  • Linear has two slash commands which can be used in Cliq—/createissue and /searchissue.

i. /createissue:

  • Use this slash command to create an issue in any chat or channel.

  • This will open the create issue window in the same chat window.

  • Click on Create.

  • You have the option to edit and delete the created issue.

 

ii. /searchissue: 

  • Use the /searchissue command to search and view all of the issues assigned to you.

  • The issues are listed with their ID, Title, Team, Project, Due Date, Priority, and Action, allowing you to update them directly. 

Message Actions 

  • Hover over a message an click on the three dots, and select More...

  • You will get the Convert to issue message action.

  • Click on the message action and then enter the details to create an issue from the message.

  • The issue will be created.

URL unfurl and preview 

  • Copy and paste a Linear link in any chat or a channel for it to unfurl.

  • The link will be previewed automatically once it is sent. 

  • You can also add a comment directly using this link.
