External channels are mainly used to invite users from outside the organization. Users from the organisation can also be added to these channels. In the case of other organizations, a notification will be sent to join the channel. However, members within the organization do not receive it and get added directly.
Here are two ways to send invites:
- In the chat window, click on Actions and select Channel info.
- Click the channel image in the chat header near the channel title.
A dialog window appears where you can type the email id of the users you would like to add and click the Invite button.

The invite can be sent to two types of users.
A Cliq user outside the organization.
i. You will receive a notification from Taz Bot to join the channel.

- Click on the Channel name (#Client-support) in the notification. A dialog window to join the channel will appear.
- Click on Join to accept the invitation.

ii. An email notification will be sent to you to join the channel.
- Click the Join #Channel-name(#Client-support) in Cliq button. You will be redirected to Cliq and you can select the Join this Channel button in the window.
iii. You can also join the channel by Clicking Channels in the left sidebar.
- Under the External level, select the actions menu (3 dots) and click on Join External Channel. Select #Client-support from the list of channels and click Join.
A Non-Cliq user outside the organization.
i. An email notification will be sent to the user to sign-up.
- The user will have to sign-up and follow the methods to join in Channels present in the sidebar. Click Channels in the left sidebar. Under the External level, select the actions menu (3 dots) and click on Join External Channel. Select #Client-support from the list of channels and click Join.

Note:
Other organization users will be able to add users from their organization or even invite users from other organizations in your external channel if 'Add participants' permission is enabled for their role.
