How does the global search bar help to find specific results in Cliq?

The global search bar is used to narrow down results by category. You no longer need to spend time looking for something. This feature in Cliq instantly gathers results depending on your inputs. The default filter is All, but you can view and select the filters by doing the following:
  1. In the chat header, you will find a search icon with a search bar.
  1. Click on All and a drop-down will appear displaying all the filters.
  1. Choose the filter you want and search for the result.
 
Different filter categories:
There are 9 categories you can choose from to look for specific results in Cliq.
  1. All
  • This filter is a global search i.e it will fetch data like users, contacts, channels you are a part of or yet to join, group chats, department, messages, etc from your entire Cliq organization.
  • You also have search options like from: @user, to: @user, in: #channel or chat, after: a date, before: a date, on: a date, filenamehas: filename, linkhas: linkdetail, filehas: filecontent.
  1. Users
  • This filter is exclusively to search for the users in your organization. You can select from Frequent Contacts and Recent Searches.
  • Type an alphabet or name, and a list of contacts will appear as suggestions. You will find details when you click on the username. You can also click Chat with user to chat.
  1. Channels
  • Search for a keyword under Channels, and you'll find channel names that match it.
  • In the list of channel names displayed, note that the channels you are already a part of will appear first, followed by the channels you are yet to join.
  • You can search for open organization or team channels. However, closed channels, personal channels, and external channels, on the other hand, will not appear in the results.
  1. Chats
  • You can use this filter to look for group chats and 1-1 chats based on keywords and find a list that matches the keyword.
  1. Bots
  • You can search for Bots using this filter by typing the bot's name.
  • If you type bot in search, you will find bots you are a part of and bots you can subscribe to.
  1. Department
  • You can find the members of a department by searching for a department's name of your organization.
  • Cliq's admin panel fetches the department data.
  • If your organization uses Zoho People, the department information gets retrieved from there.
  1. Threads
  • You can use this filter to look for threads by searching for a keyword.
  • A list of threads that match the keyword will appear.
  • You can select the thread you want to continue with and start a conversation.
  1. Messages
  • You can use the Message search to find a specific message rather than scrolling through the chat and finding it.
  • To find an exact match, enclose your search keyword within double-quotes -"keyword".
  • You also have search options like from: @user, to: @user, in: #channel or chat, after: a date, before: a date, on: a date, filenamehas: filename, linkhas: linkdetail, filehas: filecontent.
  1. Widgets
  • You can search for Widgets using this filter by typing the widget's name.

Note:

  • You can press cmd (command)+k to quickly open the global search bar to search.
