Creating a Web Tab

Creating a Web Tab

Overview
You can add any frequently used website as a web tab and access it directly from within your community. Web tabs can be created at the community level, space level, or privately.

Who can create a web tab?

  • Super hosts and community hosts can create web tabs at the community level.
  • Space admins, super hosts, and community hosts can create web tabs at the space level.
  • All members can create private web tabs that are visible only to them.

Create a web tab at the community level

  1. Click the three dots (...) icon at the bottom of the left menu.

  2. From the dropdown, click Add Web Tab.

  3. Enter the URL, name, and choose whether you'd like the web tab to open inside CommunitySpaces or in a new browser tab.

Notes
Make sure the website you add supports embedding within another application. If it doesn’t, it will open only in a new tab.

  1. In the Access field, select Everyone in the community to make it available to all.

  2. Optionally, enter a description. Click Save.

Upon adding the tab, the web tab will appear in the left menu for everyone.

Create a web tab for a space

  1. Go to Spaces.

  2. Navigate to the space where you want to add the web tab.
  3. Click the + icon in the tab list below the header.

  4. In the pop-up, enter the URL, name, and description.

  5. Click Save.

The tab will appear in the space alongside all other space apps.

Create a private web tab

  1. In the Access field, select Only me to make it available to all.

  2. Optionally, enter a description and click Save.

On adding the tab, the web tab will appear in the left menu for you.

Configuring a Web Tab to open in a new browser tab

Some websites don’t allow their content to load inside another application. You can still add them as a web tab and choose to open them in a new browser tab.

To do this:
While creating the web tab, enable Open in New Tab to make the website open in a separate browser tab.

After the tab is created, go to the web tab and click Open in New Tab anytime and you'll be redirected to the website in a new tab.

How many web tabs can I create?

There’s no limit to how many web tabs you can create. You can add as many community, space, or private web tabs as you need.
