Making articles mandatory for reading

Mandatory reading streamlines the process of making users read essential articles and confirm their acknowledgment.
 
With mandatory reads, you can efficiently share policy documents, manuals, and company guides while ensuring that each user reads and acknowledges the essential information.
 
In Zoho Learn, the manual admins or contributors have to enable mandatory reading for a manual and then enable mandatory read for individual articles inside them. Mandatory reading can be enabled for articles only after publishing them. You can also customize the appearance, message, and button on the acknowledgement form that the users will submit after reading the article.
 
To enable mandatory read for a manual:

1.Navigate to the manual and click the More Options icon () in the top-right corner.
2.Click Mandatory Read, then click General Settings.

3.Enable the Mandatory Read button.
4.To edit the acknowledgement message, enter the new message in the Acknowledgement message text box.
5.To edit the button text, enter the new text in the Button text box.
6.To change the theme of the form, select a theme from the themes palette.
7.See a preview of the acknowledgement form in the preview section.


After adding manual level settings, you can enable mandatory reading for individual articles in the manual.

To enable mandatory reading for individual articles:
  1. Navigate to a published article.
  2. Click the More Options icon  () to the right of the article.
  3. Click Enable mandatory read.

To enable mandatory read for multiple articles in a manual:
  1. Navigate to the manual and click the More Options icon () in the top-right corner.
  2. Click Settings and go to the Mandatory Reading tab.
  3. Click Manage.
  4. Select the articles, click Save changes.


After marking an article as mandatory, the readers in the manual will be notified to read and acknowledge the article. The admins and contributors can see the statistics of the users who have read the article.

To view reader statistics for the mandatory articles:
  1. Navigate to the article, click Reader statistics on the top of the article name.
                                                                              or
  1. Navigate to the manual and click the More Options icon () in the top-right corner.
  2. Go to Mandatory Reading, click Manage Articles.
  3. Click Reports on an article from the list of articles.


From the reader statistics page, you can send reminders to the users who are yet to read the article.
  1. Navigate to the article, click Reader statistics on the top of the article name.
  2. Go to the unread tab, then click Remind all.


To view the mandatory articles assigned to you:
  1. Navigate to the manual and click the More Options icon () in the top-right corner.  
  2. Go to Mandatory Reading, click My Mandatory Reads.
