Lesson types
Text lesson
If you want to create lessons for topics that are text-intensive or want to take a traditional approach for training, you can create lessons with text type. The text editor supports a wide range of options to help create well-formatted lessons.
Adding a text lesson
To add a text lesson:
- Navigate to the course, then go to the Lessons tab.
- Click the Add Content button on the lesson.
- Select Text and enter your lesson content in the editor.
Video lesson
Combining audio and visual aid to create lessons is a great way to build engaging courses for your learners. In Zoho Learn, you can upload videos from your device or embed YouTube, Vimeo, or Dailymotion videos in your lessons.
Adding a video lesson
To add a video lesson:
1. Navigate to the course, then go to the Lessons tab.
2. Click the Add Content button on the lesson, then select Video.
3. To upload a video, click Upload Video and choose the video from your device.
4. To embed a video, click Embed video. Enter the video URL and click Save.
Document lesson
If you have existing documents that you think are suited for your course, you can easily upload them using document lessons.
Adding a document lesson
To add a document lesson:
- Navigate to the course, then go to the Lessons tab.
- Click the Add Content button on the lesson.
- Select Document to choose the document from your device.
Block lesson
If you want to mix different types of content in a single lesson, you can use blocks. Block lesson type helps you create a combination of text, list, audio, video, image, document, and process content types. For example, if you want to add content for an introduction to your company, you can build a lesson by including all elements like text, video, images, etc.
Adding a block lesson
To add a block lesson:
- Navigate to the course, then go to Lessons tab.
- Click the Add Content button on the lesson.
- Select Blocks and enter your lesson content in the editor.
You can create the following types of content inside a block lesson:
Text
- Click Text in the left pane.
- Select from one of the following text types, then enter your content:
- Paragraph
- Paragraph with Heading
- Paragraph with Subheading
- Heading
- Subheading
- Two column
- Three column
List
- Click List in the left pane.
- Select from one of the following list types.
- Numbered
- Checklist
- Bulleted
- Type your content, then press enter to add more items to your list.
Image
- Click Image in the left pane.
- Select from one of the following image types.
- Image Only
- Text and Image
- Text on Image
- Click Upload Image, then choose the file from your device.
Video
- Click Video in the left pane.
- To upload a video from your device, click Upload Video and choose the file.
- To embed a video, click Embed Video. To add an embed URL, click the URL tab and paste the URL. To add an embed code, click the Code tab and paste the code.
- Click Save.
Document
- Click Document in the left pane.
- Click Upload File, then select the file from your device.
Process
If you want to explain a series of actions or steps to achieve a particular result, you can use a process block in your lesson.
To add a process block:
- Click Process in the left pane.
- Type your content, then click the Add icon (
) to add more steps in the process.
Audio
Training content on language skills, interpersonal communication, and other subjects is naturally better-suited for audio learning than text-based teaching methods. Audio lessons also help learners who are visually-impaired or who have special needs to access audio lessons easily.
To add an audio block:
- Click Audio in the left pane.
- Click Upload File, then select the file from your device.
You can also add content by clicking the Add icon () on the block.
