Question Banks

Create a repository of questions that can be reused in multiple quizzes across different courses. You can group questions that belong to the same category into topics inside a question bank. 

Creating a question bank 

To create a new question bank:
  1. Navigate to the Learning tab and go to the Question Bank section.
  2. Click the Add icon (), then click Question Bank.
  3. Enter a name and description for your question bank.
  4. Click Add Topic, then enter a name for the topic.
  5. Click Add Topic

To add questions to your question bank:
  1. Go to the topic in the question bank, then click Add Questions.
  2. Click the Add a Question button, then select a question type.
  3. Enter the question, the choices and give the correct answer for the question.
  4. To give a description for the question, click the Add question description icon, then enter the description.
  5. To enable custom feedback, enable the Custom feedback button, then select a feedback type and enter the feedback.
  6. To set a score for the question, give the score in the Question Score input box.
  7. To set a time limit for a question, enable the Question Time Limit button and select the duration from the Minutes picker.
To edit a question:
  1. Navigate to the topic in the question bank, then click Edit Questions.
To delete a question:
  1. Navigate to the topic in the question bank, then click Edit Questions.
  2. Click the Delete icon () on the question in the navigation pane.
To reorder questions:
  1. Navigate to the topic in the question bank, then click Edit Questions.
  2. To reorder questions, drag and drop the questions in the navigation pane.
To rename a topic:
  1. Navigate to the question bank.
  2. Click the More options icon () on the topic in the navigation pane.
  3. Click Rename.
  4. Type the new name for the topic and press Enter.
To delete a topic:
  1. Navigate to the question bank.
  2. Click the More options icon () on the topic in the navigation pane.
  3. Click Delete.
To change the basic settings of a question bank:
  1. Navigate to your question bank, click the Settings icon () in the top-right corner.
  2. Enter a new name, description, or permalink.
  3. Click Save.
To delete a question bank:
  1. Navigate to your question bank, click the Settings icon () in the top-right corner.
  2. Click Delete question bank.

Adding questions from a question bank 

While creating your quiz, you can choose to add questions in one of the following ways from a question bank:
Randomize questions: Set the number of questions to be picked at random from the topics in a question bank. This ensures that no two learners are asked the same set of questions in a quiz.
Select questions: Select specific questions from the topics inside a question bank.

To randomize questions:
  1. Navigate to the quiz, then click Add a question.
  2. Click Randomize questions in the From question bank section, the select a question bank.
  3. Set the number of questions to be picked from the topics, score for each question, and the time limit.
  4. Click the Add to quiz button in the top-right corner. 
To edit the number of questions to be picked from the topics, score for each question, and the time limit:
  1. Navigate to the quiz.
  2. Click the randomize quiz question, then set the number of questions, score, and time limit.
  3. Click Update
To select specific questions from a question bank:
  1. Navigate to the quiz, then click Add a question.
  2. Click Select questions in the From question bank section, the select a question bank.
  3. To select all the questions from a topic, select the topic.
  4. To select specific questions from a topic, go to the topic and select the question.
  5. Click the Add to quiz button in the top-right corner.

Sharing a question bank

Once you have created your question bank, you can share it with other users of your hub. The admin can grant one of the following privileges to the users depending on what access they need:
  1. Readers can view the topics and questions in the question bank but not edit it.
  2. Contributors can edit the topics and questions in the question bank.
  3. Admins manage the question bank, the users, and their permissions.
To share a question bank:
  1. Navigate to the question bank, then click Share.
  2. To share the question bank with specific users, type their names or email addresses in the text box and select them. Select one of the access privileges and click Add.
  3. To share the question bank with a space in your hub, type the name of the space in the text box and select it. Select one of the access privileges and click Add.
  4. To share the question bank with everyone in the hub, click the button next to Everyone and click Enable.
