How does eMudhra signing differ from Aadhaar eSign?
- Though both eMudhra signing and Aadhaar eSign are applicable for IN DC, there is a small difference between the two.
- When a signer wants to sign a document using eMudhra, the signer has to create an eKYC account with eMudhra.
- If the signer wants to sign the documents using Aadhaar eSign, all they have to do is enter the valid Aadhaar number and the OTP will be sent to the registered phone number associated with the entered Aadhaar number.
How exactly does eMudhra signing work?
- The signer receives a signing link to sign a document in Zoho Sign.
- If the signer wishes to sign the document with eMudhra, the signer can choose the option from the dropdown list box at the top-right corner of the signing page.
- The signer will use their eMudhra credentials and OTP to finish the signing process in eMudhra. Once the signing process is completed, the signers will get the signed copy over email, or can download the copy by accessing the initial signing link.
Note: The signer must have a Zoho Sign account and the eMudhra eKYC account must be mapped with Zoho sign account to sign the documents using this integration.
Does the signer needs to register themselves before signing the document using Aadhaar eSign service?
No. The signer needs to have an Aadhaar card, which, when entered, an OTP will be sent to the registered phone number associated with the entered Aadhaar number, after which the signer can finish signing the document.
How does eMudhra signing differ from Aadhaar sSign for signers?
eMudhra signing is designed to support a large volume of document signing, and requires the eKYC process to be done. It is helpful for signers who have more documents to sign, or have the need to sign the documents in regular interval of time.
Aadhaar eSign does not require any eKYC process and the document can be signed even when the signer has no Zoho Sign account. In other terms, Aadhaar eSign is helpful for guest signers.
Can the user decide on what can be kept as a username when they sign up for a new eMudhra account?
Yes. The user name (or Signer ID) is unique and can be kept as per the user's choice. The user name can have 6 to 25 alphanumeric characters (a-z, A-Z, 0-9).
Who all will have access to eMudhra signing, and who will have the access to Aadhaar eSign?
eMudhra integration will be accessible to those signers who have completed the eKYC process and have mapped the details in Zoho Sign. This integration will be helpful for the signers who have large volumes of documents to be signed, or for signers who have documents to be signed at regular interval of time. Aadhaar eSign is helpful to those signers who have a limited number of documents to be signed.
How much will a signer be charged to complete the eKYC steps?
The registration process for eKYC will be free. However, when each user is associated, 100 Zoho Sign credits will be consumed on an annual basis, with which an unlimited number of documents can be signed
Can a user be added as an associated user of eMudhra if that particular user hasn't done the eKYC?
No. A signer can only be added as an associated user of eMudhra if they have completed the eKYC process.
Can a guest signer sign a document using eMudhra?
No. A non-Zoho Sign user cannot use the eMudhra integration to sign documents. However, the signer can sign using Aadhaar eSign service, which does not require any eKYC steps.
How long does it take to activate an account after registering in eMudhra?
The eMudhra account gets activated right after the eKYC steps have been completed.
Can a foreign vendor, or someone outside Indian Nationality, sign using eMudhra/Aadhaar signing?
Although both eMudhra and Aadhaar eSign are available in the IN DC, the signer has to complete the eKYC to sign the documents using eMudhra. Aadhaar is issued to NRIs and foreign nationals residing in India, in which case the signer can sign the document using this integration.
Is there a count limit for users to be associated with eMudhra and adding them?
No. There is no count limit on the number of users who could be associated with eMudhra integration. However, please note that 100 credits will be reduced for every user associated.
What is Virtual ID in Aadhaar eSign?
Virtual ID (VID) is a temporary, revocable 16-digit random number mapped with the Aadhaar number. VID can be used in lieu of Aadhaar number whenever authentication or e-KYC services are performed. It is not possible to derive Aadhaar number from VID.At present, there is no expiry period for VID.
Does a new signature certificate gets generated every time a document is signed using Aadhaar eSign?
Each Aadhaar eSigned certificate is valid for 30 minutes. When the documents are signed within the above mentioned timeframe, the same certificate will be available for all the signed documents. When the time frame has been exceeded, a new certificate will be generated.
