What is NOM 151?

NOM 151 or Normativa 151, a Mexican standard that guarantees that digitally signed documents cannot be altered, can be used for any legal transaction by providing a data retention certificate that helps in verifying the document's integrity and reliability. This is achieved by a conservation certificate issued by a Certification Service Provider authorized by the Ministry of Economy to ensure the the signed electronic document is intact, provide legal certainty for the signed document to be used as a evidence, thus offering a greater legal certainty in having your electronic documents signed electronically.

NOM 151 in Zoho Sign

Zoho Sign has integrated with PSC World, an authorized Certification Service Provider accredited by the Ministry of Economy, Mexico. Once a document is signed with NOM 151 in Zoho Sign, the document's hash will be sent to PSC world, which returns a timestamp certificate in the ASN1 format which is stored in Zoho Sign. The timestamp certificate along with the document's original hash acts as proof that the signed document has not been altered.

Enabling and signing documents with NOM 151

This action can be performed only by administrators. If you are an administrator:
  1. From your Zoho Sign dashboard, hover over Settings in the left navigation pane and click Integrations.
  2. Scroll to find NOM 151 certification via PSC World. Alternatively, search for NOM 151.
  3. Click Enable.

Checking for NOM 151 certificate in the signed documents

  1. From your Zoho Sign dashboard, hover your cursor on Documents and click Completed.
  2. Click on the completed document name and you can find the NOM 151 certificate details.

  1. Along with this, you can also check the validity of the document. To do so:
    1. Download the signed document and NOM 151 certificate by clicking the three dots > NOM 151 certificate.
    2. Upload the signed document and downloaded NOM 151 certificate in this page.
