Add work item followers
Following a work item is different from getting assigned to a work item. A user who is not working on a task can still be added as a follower to get notified of its updates. This is effective to allow other team members in on a work item to keep them informed. For instance, an item that you're working on might have some dependency on another item. You can add that item's assignees as followers to your item to keep them in the loop.
Similarly, you can follow work items that can impact the feature that you're working on. This allows you to watch the developments in those work items and align your work accordingly, or raise any red flags in the process.
Zoho Sprints enables followers to receive feed and email notifications regarding each activity in the work item.
Follow items
To follow an item:
- Go to the required project.
- Find the item.
- Click the item to open the detail view page.
- Click the Follow link. You will be added a follower and you will start getting notifications of the updates.
Enable follower option
To receive notifications, the Follower option must be enabled:
- Click the gear icon at the top-right corner to go to Settings page.
- Select Email Notifications under Personal Settings.
- Enable the Follower option. Once enabled, notifications will be enabled.
Add followers
To add followers to an item:
- Go to the required project.
- Find the item.
- Click the item to open the detail view page of the item.
- Click the followers icon in the right-side menu bar. The Followers List window will appear.
- Click the +Followers button. The Add Followers window will appear.
- Select the users to be added.
- Click the Add button. The users will be added as followers.
- User profiles with Edit permission alone can add followers to a work item.
- Assignees of a work item will not be listed as followers.
Remove followers
To remove followers:
- Go to the required project.
- Find the item.
- Go to the detail view page of the item.
- Click the followers icon in the right-side menu bar. The Followers List window will appear.
- Click the remove icon inline with the required user name. The follower will be removed.
Unfollow item
To unfollow an item:
- Go to the required project.
- Find the item.
- Go to the detail view page of the item.
- Click the Unfollow link. You will be removed from the followers list.
