Block and unblock work items

Block item capability in Zoho Sprints allows you to restrain all actions pertaining to a particular item. You can indefinitely halt or temporarily shelf an item. If a user blocks an item, none of the users can perform any action (except adding comments) in the item until the item is unblocked. This enables items to be put on hold or frozen until they are fit to be processed. You can unblock the item when required.

This feature comes with the provision to block an item up to a particular time. You can schedule the time at which the item must be unblocked automatically.

Notes
Note: 
  1. Users with permission to edit the item can block the item
  2. The user who blocked the item can unblock the item
  3. Admin user, sprint owner, project owner, and workspace owner can unblock the item
  4. Users will be allowed to add comments alone when the item is blocked
 

Block item

To block item:
  1. Open the required project.
  2. Go to the Backlog, Sprint, Board, Release, or Epic where the item is present.

  3. Go to the item details page.
  4. Click the Block option at the top. The Block window will appear.
  5. Enter the reason for blocking.
  6. Click the Block button. The item will be blocked, disallowing all actions on the item.
Once blocked, the item will be disabled in the backlog or the board as well. The blocked item in the backlog cannot be moved to a sprint, and the blocked item on the sprint board cannot be moved across statuses or closed.

To block item with scheduled unblocking
  1. Open the required project.
  2. Go to the Backlog, Sprint, Board, Epic, or Release where the item is present.
  3. Go to the item details page.
  4. Click the Block option at the top. The Block window will appear.
  5. Select Enable Schedule Unblock.
  6. Select the date and time of unblocking.

  7. Enter a reason and click Block. The item will be blocked until the specified time. Once that time is reached, the item will automatically be unblocked and available to users to update.

Unblock item

  1. Go to the item details page and click Unblock. Enter a reason and click the Unblock button.
  2. Go to the item card and click the Unblock button.
