The board is an inherent scrum tool that is integral to all agile scrum projects. It provides your agile team an efficient and streamlined mechanism to track the progress of work items in a particular sprint.
Perform the following on the board:
- Select one sprint at a time and view the items and their status.
- Select All active sprints option to view all the active sprints and their progress.
- Apply swimlanes to group items based on the selected swimlane criteria.
- Move items across status to update status.
- Create new items on the board.
- Associate existing items to the board.
- Start a group chat to initiate closed group conversation.
- Navigate to the sprint details page.
- Expand and collapse to view or hide status.
- View total item count and their estimation points.
- View WIP limits to access maximum and minimum number of items distributed across statuses.
View sprint on board
Board serves as a visually representative tool to monitor your sprint.
To view sprint:
- Open the required project.
- Go to the Board module.
- Select the required sprint from the Sprint dropdown. Enter sprint name to find it.
The selected sprint will appear on the board. The status of the work items will be available at the top of the board and the respective items will be listed under each status. The item card will show details based on the view selected.

Apply swimlane
To apply swimlane:
- Go to the board module.
- Select the required sprint from the Sprint dropdown. The sprint will appear on the board.
- Click the Swimlane dropdown.
- Select a swimlane criteria. The items on the board will be organized as swimlanes with the criteria as header for each lane.
Note: - Click the expand and collapse icon to view or hide swimlanes.
- Click the story, task, or bug icons to view the respective work items in a swimlane.
- Select Show Empty Lanes to to include them in the view.

Move items across the board
You can move an item across the different statuses on the board, enabling you to update the status. Zoho Sprints comes with a drag-and-drop interface that makes it easy.
To move items:
- Go to the Board module.
- Select the required sprint from the Sprint dropdown. The sprint will appear on the board.
- Drag and drop a particular item from one status to another.
- Alternatively, you can update the status from the item details page.
Note: You can create custom statuses for your items. Navigate to the Custom Status on the Settings page.
Create new items
To create new item:
- Go to the Board module.
- Select the required sprint from the Sprint dropdown. The sprint will appear on the board.
- Click the Create button. The Item creation form will appear.
- Enter the item details.
- Click the Create button. The item will be added to the sprint on the board under the selected status.
Associate existing item
To associate an existing item:
- Go to the Board module.
- Select the required sprint from the Sprint dropdown. The sprint will appear on the board.
- Click dropdown on the Create button.
- Select Associate Item. The Associate Items window will appear.
- Select the required sprint and epic (if applicable). The items will be listed.
- Select the required items.
- Click the Associate button. The item will be added to the sprint on the board under the respective statuses.
Start a group chat
To create a group chat:
- Click the chat icon in Add ons. The Create Group window will appear.
- Enter group name.
- Add participants.
- Click Create. The group will be created.
- Use this group to start a conversation.
View sprint details
The sprint details page provides information about the sprint. You can navigate to this page from the board.
- Click the View Sprint Details link. A pop-up with information on the sprint will appear.
- Click the More Details button. The details page will appear.
Work in progress limit
You can set limits for the number of work items within each status on your board. Use the WIP (Work In progress) limit to set a maximum and minimum value to each status on your board. You can define the limit in Project Settings. Learn more.
If the status reaches more than the specified maximum value, you will see a bar indicating that the status is 'Most Occupied'. And, if the status has work items less than the specified minimum value, you can see the 'Least Occupied' bar. This will show the whole item count irrespective of the user permission.
