Custom domain | Zoho Sprints Help

Custom domain

A domain is the text that you key into the address bar when you're trying to locate a source on the web. If you want to locate Zoho's website you will enter https://www.zoho.com on the browser. Like all other Zoho applications, Zoho Sprints is hosted on Zoho's domain. However, the Custom Domain option in Zoho Sprints lets you map your domain to your Sprints workspace. It allows you to use your organization's domain while running your business on Zoho Sprints. It can simply be said, instead of https://sprints.zoho.com/team/yourteamname you can have it as https://subdomain.yourcompanyname.com/team/yourteamname.

Example

Info
Let's assume you're running a startup called mobi-devs that creates mobile applications. You are managing your development projects on Zoho Sprints. Let's say your workspace name is mobileapp. By default, you would be using the Zoho Sprints URL https://sprints.zoho.com/workspace/mobileapp to access your workspace. Instead, if your domain name is mobi-devs you can map the it to your workspace and access using the URL https://mobi-devs.com/workspace/uxteam/#projects

Benefits

  1. Create an exclusive portal to access your workspace.
  2. Host your portal on a domain that your organization identifies itself with.
  3. Get your identity verified and access the workspace using a secure authentication system.

  2. Select to Custom Domain under Customization.
  3. Enter your domain and sub-domain name in the field.

  5. Once you verify the domain name, two CNAME values will appear. These values should be set in your DNS settings before you map this new domain to your Zoho Sprints workspace.

Map custom domain

To map custom domain:
  1. Log in to your domain provider's admin console.
  2. Go to the DNS settings / Manage DNS section.
  3. If you aren't using the domain that you have purchased as the custom domain (www.yourcompanyname.com), then create a subdomain as per your business requirement.
  4. Create a record of type CNAME, enter a host alias (i.e www/subdomain)and point it to the destination sprints.cs.zohohost.com. If you are managing your project portal from sprints.cs.zohohost.com, map the CNAME entry to the destination sprints.cs.zohohost.com.
  5. Create a dummy CNAME record, enter the second CNAME value displayed and point it to the corresponding destination.
  6. Save the changes.

  7. In Zoho Sprints go to Custom Domain Name settings, click Map Domain and proceed to Confirm Mapping .
  8. If you have already set up the SSL certificate, your domain will be mapped successfully to your portal after confirmation. Otherwise, you will need to purchase the SSL certificate.
  9. If you click Confirm Mapping without setting up the SSL certificate, the domain will be mapped to your portal, however, the mapped domain name will be disabled.
  10. Zoho Sprints will automatically purchase the SSL certificate. It may take up to 7 days to complete the purchase.
  11. Once the process is complete, you will be notified via email. You can then enable your domain.
Notes
Note: SSL certificate is mandatory since custom domains work via the HTTPS protocol.

Enable or Disable Custom Domain

  1. Click the gear icon at the to-right. The settings window will appear.
  2. Select to Custom Domain under Customization.
  3. Click Enable to enable domain mapping. If you click Disable, domain mapping will be disabled and will be redirected to the default Zoho Sprints domain name.
