Cycle time variation

Cycle time variation report

Cycle time refers to the timeframe of an item having started work on it and its eventual completion. Kanban reports in Zoho Sprints use this metric to measure the time taken for the actual work performed on a particular tasks.

This graphic report is based on the average duration taken for items to be completed.

How to read the cycle time variation report?

This report shows the weekly trend by tracking the average, minimum, and maximum cycle time of items on the board.
  1. X-axis denotes the end dates of the items by week.
  2. Y-axis denotes the cycle time of the items that were completed.
  3. Maximum, minimum, and average cycle times are represented as individual lines.
Idea
Example

Let's assume you have multiple items in your kanban backlog and board. The cycle time is the time from when an item is created in the backlog or on the board to the time it is moved to the final status to denote completion. Using this report, you will be able to view the maximum amount of duration and minimum amount of duration taken for item completion. Along with these, the average duration for the selected date rage is also generated in the report.

For instance, if you have 10 items, with maximum cycle time of 20 days and minimum cycle time of 9 days, your average cycle time is 13 days and 8 hours.

Insights

  1. You can get the average cycle time of items for a preferred date range.
  2. You can observe the maximum and minimum duration taken for item completion on a weekly basis.
These insights will allow you to focus on aspects that will help bring down the maximum cycle time for your items and also reduce the average cycle time.

Report table

The table below the report provides you with a summary view of the details plotted on the graph or chart. The table captures the weekly date range, the average, minimum, and maximum cycle times for each date range. Apart from this, there is a tabular view of the work items within the mentioned period along with their cycle times.
