Lead time process control report
Lead time refers to the timeframe of an item being added or moved to the board and its eventual completion. Lead time process control arrives at threshold markers based on the lead time of the work items completed within the said period. This enables you to track the item lead time across thresholds denoted in percentile based on the variation of item duration on the board.
How threshold values are calculated?
Percentiles for lead time are calculated based on the number of work items in that date range and their lead times.
Example:
Number of items for the specified date range = 5
Lead time of item 1 = 25d (d denotes duration in days)
Lead time of item 2 = 45d
Lead time of item 3 = 30d
Lead time of item 4 =30d
Lead time of item 5 = 60d
(P/100)*N = Percentile Value
Note: Since percentile value shows ranking or position, the duration needs to be sorted in ascending order.
Current sequence: 25d, 45d, 50d, 30d, 60d
Ordered sequence: 25d, 30d, 45d, 50d, 60d
So, the 50th percentile = (50/100) X 5 = 2.5
2.5 denotes the 3rd duration in the ordered list. Which implies the 50th percentile is 45d.
Therefore, all items that fall within this have been completed before the 50% lead time threshold limit.
What the report shows?
- This report shows the items that fall under each percentile of lead time.
- X-axis denotes the end dates of the items by week.
- Y-axis denotes the lead time of the items.
- The threshold limits are represented as percentile values of lead time.
- The items are plotted based on their completion within each lead time percentile.
Insights
- You can get the lead time process assessment of items for a preferred date range.
- You can view the lead time of items under each threshold limit, which is calculated based on the number of items and their completion time.
- You can track the items under each lead time threshold limit.
These insights enable you to view items' duration in reference to those threshold markers. The lead time is split into percentile values to show the items that come under each of those markers, and this gives an understanding of the amount of time taken for completion of items and the number of items under each threshold limit.
Report table
The table below the report provides you with a summary view of the details plotted on the graph or chart. The table captures work items within the mentioned period along with their lead times.
