Create custom project status

You can create custom project status that best defines that status of your projects based on your business requirement.

There're default status options available.
  1. Planning
  2. In Progress
  3. Quote
  4. Negotiation
  5. Implementation
  6. Completed
  7. Closed
  8. Abandoned
But if your project management process has unique or specific statuses that you need to track, you can create new status.


  1. You cannot edit or delete default status options.
  2. You need to have a profile that includes permission to manage workspace settings to access this customization.

Create project status

To create new project status:
  1. Click the gear icon at the top-right corner. The settings window will appear.
  2. Select Project Status under Workspace Settings.
  3. Click the +Project Status. The creation window will appear.
  4. Enter the status name.
  5. Select the status type as Open, In Progress, or Closed.
  6. Specify after which status the new status must be added.

  7. Click the Add button. The status is added to the listing page. When creating a project, you can select this as project status.

Edit project status

To edit project status:
  1. Click the gear icon at the top-right corner. The settings window will appear.
  2. Select Project Status under Workspace Settings. The listing page will appear.
  3. Hover over the required status.

  4. Click the Edit link.
  5. Make changes.
  6. Click the Update button to save changes.

Delete project status

To delete project status:
  1. Click the gear icon at the top-right corner. The settings window will appear.
  2. Select Project Status under Workspace Settings. The listing page will appear.
  3. Hover over the required status.
  4. Click the Delete link. A confirmation pop-up will appear.
  5. Click the Delete button. The status will be removed.

Hi, I can't see this screen.. is there a new update? I want to add additional status..

This is probably due to the access restriction associated with the profile assigned to you. Kindly contact your workspace owner to update your profile permission to allow you access to Project Status settings. If you already have the required permission and still this issue persists, please reach our team at support@zohosprints.com. One of our representatives will assist you.

  it's not a restriction issue. I'm the owner of my account AND the only user. 
The Project Status under Workspace Settings does not even exist in the menu.

Sorry you've run into this issue. From the attached screenshot, I am assuming you are referring to Zoho Projects custom status option. The search result must have landed you on Zoho Sprints page instead of Zoho Projects. If you are looking to customize project status in Zoho Projects, please refer to this section.
