The Connected Apps in Zoho Vertical Studio are widgets that help you embed or integrate third-party applications directly into your solution. The data exchange between your solution and the third-party application is established using APIs. This enhances the flexibility of your solution by bringing in the capabilities offered by the external applications.
Widgets are custom, interactive Graphical User Interface (GUI) components which you can embed within the Application to achieve custom out-of-the-box functionalities such as third-party integrations and services. They help you to fetch real-time data, automate tasks, and provide tailored interfaces based on various business requirements.
For instance, you can integrate a telephony system to make calls directly from the solution or display a Google map based on address fields. It helps you enhance workflows by reducing the need to switch between multiple platforms and thereby offering a cohesive experience for your subscribers.
Following are a few other use cases that can be achieved using widgets:
Display weather conditions using location coordinates.
Tailor dashboard elements to list recent blogs by the CEO to stay updated.
Display nearby leads on an embedded map based on the current location of the salesperson.
Exclusive to Developer Console
This feature is exclusive to the developer console and is not available for Subscriber Organizations, meaning only developers can create and provide these widgets.
You can configure multiple widgets within a single connected app. While configuring the connected app for a widget type, specify the path of the particular widget's index file.
Better Categorization
By grouping widgets under a single connected app, you can better organize them and streamline their deployment across the subscriber's organization. This approach ensures easier management and implementation.
