Cannout update contact as it says it is a duplicate.

I had two contacts for the same user. One was entered directly into the ZOHO Campaign contacts and one was imported from my zoho crm.  The zoho crm had a bad email address,  I deleted the contact that was entered directly into ZOHO campaigns and then attempted to update the contact from my crm.  It will not allow me to update it as it says it is a duplicate. how long will zoho campaigns think the deleted contact is still active?
