Change the Owner of the portal

The issue is that the previous owner of the portal aka the Director of the company left the company and we want to change the ownership of the portal to the new Director but we can't do it because we don't have the password of the previous director to enter to his account. Is there a way to achieve this? which are the steps that need to be done?
