Does a new subscriber get optin confirmation email if autoresponder is set upon subscribing?

Does a new subscriber get optin confirmation email if autoresponder is set upon subscribing?

I'm setting up a campaign where I want the first email to be sent when a new subscriber sends the form. Do they still get the optin confirmation email? If so, is the first autoresponder email sent after they confirm?
