Does Immediate Sync work on Updated records?

Does Immediate Sync work on Updated records?

In Campaigns > Contacts > Sync Services: Does "Immediate Sync" also watch for, and immediately pull in Updated records (as opposed to strictly New records)?

It appears that it only pulls in New records. Otherwise the once-a-day delay of the "Periodic sync" is not practical for many of my use cases (example: sending a welcome email the moment the contacts Registration field is updated. or Sending an email the moment we miss a chat or call or just before a scheduled appointment or...)
