GDPR consent email - Urgent issue

I noticed there are a couple of consent templates available in Zoho Campaigns but I had hoped you would be able to let me know what the 'email consent' merge button actually does? It is my hope that it updates Zoho CRM by selecting 'email opt in' when someone clicks on 'i consent' in the body of the email. However, I've run a couple of tests and this does not appear to be the case - when you click 'i consent', it simply takes the contact to a thank you screen but can you tell me where this consent is being recorded?
