Getting additional info after subscription confirmation

I would like to customize the sign-up thank you page, so that subscribers have the option of selecting additional email preferences. Ideally, I would like the workflow to be:

1) Simple sign up on website (first name, last name, company, email)
2) Confirmation email with confirmation link
3) Thank you page - Thank you for confirming your subscription! To help us serve you better, please indicate what types of emails and topic areas you are most interested in. If you don't select anything, you will be subscribed to everything.
4) Inline thank you for saving your preferences.

Is this possible, and how would I accomplish this?
