Spotlight 06: How ShowTime's polls help trainers with real-time evaluation

ShowTime’s polls help you gauge your audience's opinions by asking them questions at preferred intervals so they stay engaged during your live online trainings. You can now stop wondering what your learners are thinking and make your session interactive by getting quick replies to your questions through polls. 
 
Welcome to another spotlight series post in ShowTime's Community Learning series. In this post, we will focus on the polls feature and how the multiple question types it provides help you improve attendee interaction and track your learners' performance.


 
Research popular opinions with an open text box: 
 
The most useful response always helps you learn something you didn’t already know. What’s a key aspect of your session that you aren’t aware of? Do your trainees perceive the session differently than you expected?
 
The best way to gather feedback that teaches you something new is to include an “open text” box. It also shows your users that you care about what they have to say. This is one of the simplest ways to foster engagement, helping you extract diverse opinions and test conceptual skills. 
 

 
Collect comparative viewpoints using a rating scale:
 
A rating scale is one of the most established question types for online and offline trainings, where respondents are asked to rate an attribute of the virtual classroom session on a designated scale (such as 1 - 10, or Best to Worst).
 
Generally, a rating scale can be used to evaluate the performance of a product or service, gauge learner skills, track their learning curve, and understand their involvement towards a particular topic.
 

 
Choose the best answer with multiple choice questions:
 
When students answer multiple-choice questions, they generate invaluable information which can form the basis for understanding their learning objectives. This type of poll can help you analyze any difficult topics and help attendees discover their prior knowledge.
