Is there a way to add formatting and hyperlinks in email notifications?

Is there a way to add formatting and hyperlinks in email notifications?

Under Settings>Sign Up Form Themes>Edit Theme>Notification Mails Customization>Subscription Confirmation; we can edit the email texts there. The text fields however, do not appear to accept any hyperlinks nor do they accept paragraph returns for formatting purposes. Is there a way to add formatting and hyperlinks?
