Looking for clarification on using api's and cost?

Hi,

If I do not use ZoHo creator but I use a ZoHo api to create an external application that is NOT stored in Creator do I have to pay anything if I distribute or sell the API? What if the api is used as a field inside an application such as ZoHo CRM (again the api is stored and developed on an external website but uses ZoHo api that was not created or stored in ZoHo creator)?
