Summary: I can't get the Notes import by parent entity ID to sync up with the parent Lead.
Details:
I am migrating data from an MS Access database that we use as a CRM currently. I want to import our Leads and their call log history. I was putting the call log history into the Notes table in Zoho. When you import into Notes (using the CRM Data migration options), it asks if you want to if you import using the "Import by Parent entity Id of Notes" or "Import by Parent entity name of Notes". I cannot use the Entity Name as this equates to my lead name and in many cases the leads first and last name are "Unknown" so it would be impossible for the Note to synch up with the correct parent as using just first and last name is not unique in the Leads table.
So I tried the Use Parent Entity ID. This is not working either. In order to get this to work, I had to use the CRM Migration tools to import the Leads as this option allowed you to import the Leads ID field. however, it doesn't ask you which parent table to look for this ID...interesting. Then I included the Lead ID field in my Notes .CSV to import so the Notes would find the correct Parent Lead. But no such luck. The Notes seem to be imported as orphans with no parent. When I exported the Leads and Notes tables to look at the Lead ID field in both, it is not correct nor unique. It does not match the Lead ID values in the .CSV I uploaded. So it is no wonder.
Can someone please clarify how this is supposed to work?
