Preventing Hyperlink for new users ...

I just encountered a glitch whilst posting a message with a suggestion for Zoho Planner. I quoted a similar product (hyperlink to its vendor) and I got back an error for Zoho like this:

"For users with less than three legitimate posts and less than 3 days old, hyperlink is being blocked".

I would say this rule would be quite rude right? I would suggest, if the system detects a hyperlink, then it can throw a CAPTCHA to verify it is a real user or a spambot rather than blocking the post itself. Orkut actually makes use of this trick and I feel that approach would make the forum more friendly.
