Thunderbird desktop client does not delete email off Zoho POP server

My strategy has always been to clear mail from the Zoho server once it was downloaded to my Thunderbird client on my desktop computer; hence I'm using Mail as a POP server, and my Thunderbird server configuration specifies:
  X  Leave messages on server
       X Until I delete them

Sometime in the past couple of years, I noticed that mail is no longer being deleted from the Zoho server when I delete mail from my Thunderbird client Inbox.  I can't tell if this is due to Thunderbird now issuing erroneous delete requests, or the Zoho POP server ignoring or not supporting the delete requests.

I am aware of the Zoho Mail configuration checkbox under "POP Fetch Settings":
  Auto Delete Emails (which I have NOT checked)

I don't want Zoho to automatically delete messages after I download them because when I'm away from my office and using a mobile device to check mail, I don't want messages deleted from the server until I'm back at the office and my desktop computer has the opportunity to also retrieve and locally store the message.

Anybody else have this problem?
