Tips & Tricks Series - #3 Setting question weights in quiz questions

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to our Tips & Tricks series, where we share useful features and best practices to help you get the most out of Zoho Learn.

Today, we’ll be looking at question weights in quizzes.

Not all questions in a quiz need to carry the same importance. Some may test key concepts, while others are designed to access basic understanding. With question weights, you can assign different marks to individual questions based on their importance, making your assessments more accurate and meaningful. In Zoho Learn, question weights can be set with the help of Question Score.

Now, let’s take a quick look at how to set question weights.

Question weights can be configured while creating or editing a quiz. Simply assign a weight to each question, and the total quiz score will be calculated based on the weights you’ve specified.

Follow these steps to set question weights:

  1. Open the course and navigate to the quiz you’d like to edit, or create a new quiz.
  2. Add your quiz questions as required.
  3. For each question, enter the Question Score to specify how many marks it carries.
  4. Repeat this for all of the questions in the quiz.
  5. Save or publish the quiz.
  6. Once learners attempt the quiz, their scores will be calculated based on the weights assigned to each question, allowing you to place greater emphasis on the questions that matter most.
