Users seeing different versions of events

We have several users sharing 4 different calendars and we schedule multiple meetings within a single time block on each calendar. We keep ending up with duplicate events and I couldn't figure out why until today when I was side by side with someone and we were both looking at the calendars on our own laptop. I am the main administrator of the account, the person with me was showing duplicate events with different data in each event on her laptop than what I had on mine. This is causing a lot of problems since we are finding out too late that we have inadvertent double bookings.
