Auto migrating data from Zoho DataPrep 1.0 to 2.0

Auto migrating data from Zoho DataPrep 1.0 to 2.0

Zoho DataPrep 2.0 was launched in September 2024 with a brand new way to build and manage data pipelines with the new visual pipeline canvas. After the launch, we deprecated Zoho DataPrep 1.0 and asked our customers to move to 2.0. Most of our customers have already migrated their data pipelines to 2.0.

On April 15, 2026, we enforced the end of life of the 1.0 version and have begun automatically migrating all existing workspaces to Zoho DataPrep 2.0.

What happens during auto migration?

During auto migration, the following actions are done automatically:

User permissions — Editor and Data Consumer users will be removed as these roles are not available in Zoho DataPrep 2.0. User Group sharing in editor and data consumer roles will also be removed. You can manually reshare the required workspaces or pipelines with users in any role after migration.

Pipeline configuration — New pipelines will be created for each group of related datasets. There won't be individual datasets listed in the UI.

Schedule configuration — The lowest scheduling frequency among the grouped datasets is applied to the newly created pipeline schedule, and the schedule is set to a paused state. You can review and enable the schedule after migration if needed.

What do you need to be aware of?

Fix ruleset errors — If a dataset contains any errors in the ruleset, the migration for that entire workspace will fail. You will receive an email notification to fix the errors. If errors are not resolved within 7 days from the date of email notification and manually migrated from your end, the workspace and associated datasets will not be migrated and data will be permanently deleted.

Clean up unused workspaces and datasets — You can permanently delete workspaces and datasets that are no longer required. Keeping unused datasets may increase rows processed and storage usage during migration. Cleaning up in advance helps you avoid unnecessary usage increases.

If you prefer to migrate manually, please refer to our migration guide. You can also refer to our FAQs for answers to common questions on migration.

FAQs

1) How will I know when my workspace has been migrated?

You will receive an email notification once your workspaces have been successfully migrated.

2) My migration has failed. What do I do?

Migration may fail if there are ruleset errors in your datasets. Even a single dataset with errors can fail the entire workspace migration. In that case, you will receive an email notification to fix the errors and you can try to migrate the workspace again manually. If errors are not resolved within 7 days and manually migrated from your end, the workspace and the associated datasets will not be migrated and data will be permanently deleted.

3) Can I still migrate manually instead of waiting for auto migration?

Yes. If you prefer to migrate on your own before auto migration reaches your workspace, you can do so at any time using our migration guide.

4) What happens if I don't fix the errors within 7 days?

If errors are not resolved within 7 days of receiving the email and the workspace is not manually migrated, the workspace and its associated datasets will not be migrated and data will be permanently deleted. We strongly recommend fixing errors as soon as you receive the notification.
