Ravi's busiest month was also the month his invoicing stopped working.
He had been using Zoho Invoice comfortably for months. Then, just when business picked up, he hit a limit he hadn't expected.
The problem wasn't that he had missed a payment or forgotten to renew. He needed to understand what the free plan included and what to do when he reached a limit.
Covered in our published General FAQ.
Zoho Invoice is forever-free invoicing software. It includes core invoicing features such as creating invoices and quotes, recurring invoices, payment tracking, reminders, statements, expenses, timesheets and reports.
The plan has usage limits, including limits on invoices, users and organizations. You can keep using these features without a recurring fee, while the app's included capacity helps you get started and manage your business as it grows.
Even when the product is free, you may run into questions about usage limits, payments or account details.
You may be facing one of these:
I have hit the invoice limit and cannot create another invoice.
I received a payment-related message, but I thought Zoho Invoice was free.
I cannot tell which currency I am being charged in.
I need a receipt or clarification about a charge from Zoho.
Let's look at what to check in each situation.

Zoho Invoice helps you track your usage so you can plan ahead.
When you reach 80% of your allowed limit, a notification banner appears on your Dashboard. Notifications keep you informed of your usage across invoices, users and projects, helping you understand when you're approaching the usage limits.
Here's what to check:
Check the Dashboard for usage notification banners related to invoices, users or projects.
Check invoice usage in the top-right corner of the Invoices module.
Review project and user usage by going to Settings → Usage Stats.
A note on usage resets: Your invoice limit resets annually based on your organization's creation date. User and project limits do not reset annually; they remain in effect.
If you reach the applicable invoice limit, you may be unable to create additional invoices, but your existing records remain available.
As your business grows, you may need more capacity or advanced billing capabilities than Zoho Invoice offers. In that case, explore Zoho Billing, which offers more capacity and advanced capabilities to support your growing business.

Zoho Invoice is a Forever Free invoicing software that does not require a subscription to work.
If you receive a payment or subscription message, check what it refers to before taking action.
Check the Invoice or the reminder notification carefully and identify the Zoho service mentioned in it.
Check whether it refers to Zoho Invoice or another Zoho product.
If you have multiple Zoho accounts or use other Zoho services, confirm which account the message concerns.
Do not make a payment solely because a message asks you to upgrade. Verify the request through your Zoho account or official support channels.
If the message appears to relate to Zoho Invoice itself, contact support and share the message so the team can clarify it.

If you see a charge associated with Zoho, first establish which product or service it relates to. Zoho Invoice's Forever Free plan and subscriptions for other Zoho products are separate matters.
Check the product name shown in the message or payment record.
Review the transaction details with your payment provider.
If you use other Zoho products, check whether the charge relates to one of those subscriptions.
If you cannot identify the charge, contact the relevant Zoho support team with the transaction reference and the currency shown.
Your organization's base currency is used for its financial transactions. It is not necessarily the same as the currency shown on a charge from another Zoho service.

If you need proof of payment, first identify which Zoho product or service the payment relates to.
Visit the Zoho Store and sign in using your Zoho account.
Go to Your Store Details → Transaction History.
Find the relevant transaction to review the payment details.
Download the available invoice or receipt for your records.
If you cannot find the transaction or the charge is unclear, contact Zoho support with the transaction reference.
If you see a charge you don't recognize, check which Zoho product or service it relates to and ask the relevant support team to clarify it.

Before contacting support:
Check your usage if you cannot create another invoice.
Read the message carefully to identify the product or service involved.
Check the transaction details if you see a charge you do not recognize.
Keep the relevant details handy, including your organization name, the message received and any transaction reference.
Still stuck? Send support@zohoinvoice.com your organization name, a description of the issue and a screenshot of the message or error. If the issue concerns a payment, include the transaction reference where available.
