Accounting on the Go Series-17: Strategic Pricing for Success: Exploring Price Lists in Zoho Books

Hi users,

We are all excited for the new year and what it brings for the Zoho Books family. So, in this edition of our "Accounting On-the-Go" series, we thought to show you a handy feature available in the Zoho Books mobile app – creating price lists.

New Year is an excellent time to refine your sales strategies. Businesses often enhance their customer engagement by offering discounts to loyal patrons or introducing seasonal promotions on products.
With Price Lists in the Zoho Books mobile app, you gain the flexibility to set custom rates for the items you buy from vendors or sell to your customers.

Price lists can be seamlessly added to your transactions, automatically updating all item rates according to the specified price list. This not only eliminates manual work but also ensures uniform rates throughout your transactions.

Key Benefits:

Seasonal Discounts: Easily implement seasonal discounts or promotions to boost sales during specific periods, adding a dynamic element to your pricing strategy.
Customized Rates: Tailor rates for items based on a percentage change or set individual custom rates, providing flexibility for businesses looking to implement volume pricing or cater to specific customer needs.
Vendor and Customer Specific: Create unique price lists for both vendors and customers, ensuring targeted pricing strategies and personalized offerings.

How it works in Zoho Books iOS app:

Open the Zoho Books iOS app.
Navigate to More >> Settings >> Module Preferences >> Items >> Enable Price List
Then go back to “More” and go to “Price Lists.”
Click on the “+” button available on the top right and choose the type of price list.
If you want to apply the price list to sales transactions, select "Sales."
Specify the type of item rate; for instance, if you are providing a New Year flat discount, choose “Markup Rate” and enter the percentage.
If you wish to enter custom rates for each item, select “Enter Custom Rates” under item rate. You can then either import the price list or manually enter custom rates for each item.
Once configured, save the price list.
Now, this price list can be associated with customers, vendors, or directly with transactions.
Based on the price list associated, the item rates in the transaction will be updated accordingly.

How it works in Zoho Books Android app:

While the Android app doesn’t currently support creating new price lists, if the price lists are already added, you can certainly apply them to transactions directly. If we introduce the creation feature in the future, we will keep you informed.

Feel free to elevate your New Year sales with this feature in your Zoho Books mobile app. Download the mobile app from this link or simply scan the QR code provided below.

As we wrap up, we wish you once again a very Happy New Year in advance. May the coming year bring you prosperity, success, and joy. Stay well, and here's to another year of seamless financial management with Zoho Books!
