Backspace Key

I'm not sure if this is just an intended feature of Zoho Writer, or if it's an actual issue--I looked for other similar cases, but couldn't find anything the was directly related to my problem--however, when using Zoho Writer, the backspace key seems to not do anything. It will not remove text from the left or right side of the cursor, and will not even remove highlighted text. The delete key works fine, but I find it very inconvenient not being able to remove text to the left of my cursor, and was hoping that someone might have a solution for me. The [ctrl]+[backspace] shortcut does work as intended (deletes the entire word directly to the left of cursor). It's just the backspace key alone that seems to do nothing.
