Changes in X API support for Zoho Social

The platform X has recently announced that they will be discontinuing some of the  API supported features in the newer API version. In effect of this, there are a few features that will be discontinued from Social: 

Choosing a thumbnail image for a video

You'll no longer be able to choose custom thumbnail images for the videos you upload from the compose window to your X accounts. However, you'll still be able to use this feature directly from X.

Trending hashtags

Social will no longer be able to suggest hashtags that are trending currently in your location. This means that you won't be able to access and add trending hashtags based on your location from the compose window to your X post. However we will still show you worldwide trending topics that you can add to your post, if relevant. 

List subscriptions

You also won't be able to access list subscriptions, meaning that you can't subscribe or unsubscribe to lists, view your subscribed lists in Monitor tab, or perform any actions related to list subscriptions.

Deleting DMs

You won't be able to select and delete direct messages in any conversations on X through Social anymore.

Blocking a user, and marking as spam

Blocking and unblocking a user account, or marking a message as spam, are also no longer possible.

Uploading a cover image

Lastly, the support for uploading a cover image for your X profile from Social has also been discontinued.

All these changes are with respect to the API limitations being implemented by X and will be live in the product from 31 March, 2024. Though our support for some features are being affected, we assure you that Zoho Social is trying to work closely with X to bring back the discontinued features. We will keep you informed of any further updates, and continue to work towards giving you a good experience in your social media marketing journey. 

We are also thrilled to let you know that you can now publish longer videos directly to your X accounts from Zoho Social. If your X account is already subscribed to longer video publishing support, you can make use of this from Social, and convey more with the extended video duration of up to 10 minutes depending on your plan.
