We are pleased to announce the launch of the much awaited Custom Fields in Zoho Projects. This is one among the first few significant launches for Zoho Projects for this quarter. Custom fields basically, lets you add data specific to your business needs in online project management.
Say, you are in Häagen-Dazs and you are about to place your order in a few minutes. Your favorite Belgian chocolate has gone out of stock and you are a little upset about it. What would you do next?! In no time, you will customize the available Chocolate chip and bring in the Belgian flavor. It's not a big deal when you have an option to customize things in life.
Yes, Zoho Projects understands your need and based on humongous demand from our customer base, we have launched Custom fields !!!
Here is how Mr.Charles, who runs a consultancy firm using Zoho Projects, applies custom fields in one of his projects to launch the promotional campaign for Women's day on the 8th of March, 2016.
He is excited to see the Add new custom fields link and unlike the usual project creation, he decides to spice up his new project with custom fields this time.
He hits the project Settings to create custom fields for the promotional banner. And with custom fields, he can now add specific data to his project, and choose from the different field types like the following:
He adds the following five custom fields in his new project related to the promo creation for Women's day:
Template design, Content approval, Promos per second, Blog announcement, and the Promo publish date.
If you want to always have a default value for your field, you can pre-fill it here to avoid changing it for every project. You can play around with our other field types too!
Now, Charles creates a new project wherein the custom fields are automatically populated. He selects their values and there...he is ready with his customized project for Women's day.
Can Charles view the custom fields in other pages?
Yes! Charles can customize his view on project details with custom field columns along with the other fields.
And on the project Dashboard, he simply needs to click on the maximize icon near Project Overview to look at the project summary, associated custom fields and their values.
We are excited to know your thoughts about this feature! Feel free to let us know your questions/suggestions by commenting below. You can also share how you have customized your projects.
