Event duplication due to shared calendars
We have 10 people in our office. We all share our Zoho calendars with each other. This causes a default behavior which is very undesirable. When we enter an event on our shared calendar or on a Group calendar, we will see the event listed on the day of the event on our calendar, as expected... BUT, as the invitees accept their invitations to the event, we will also see listings from their shared calendars for the same event. Essentially we have to see many duplicates of the event from all the listings of the event on our co-worker's shared calendars. Totally understand why this is happening, BUT, it completely clutters up a single day's view with all the duplicates for the same meeting (from all the shared events sync'ing into our calendar view). I don't know of anyway to prevent all the duplicates from showing, because after all, we DO want to see each other's calendar events. It would be nice if we could click on the event to toggle all the associated shared user's listings for the same event.
What I would like to suggest is an alternative way in which to view these expected duplicates, to help with minimizing the associated clutter of seeing the same event listed for everyone who is going to attend and has also shared their calendar with us. Maybe you guys could create an option to suppress the duplicates unless we click on the event. The event could be outlined or have downward facing chevrons to indicate that if you click on the event it will show all the users who have shared their calendars with you and are attending. This way we don't have to see events listed so many times on the same day, just because we are all sharing our calendars with each other. You guys have probably already thought about this and probably have an even better idea. Please consider offering some option for us to suppress what essentially look like identical duplicates for events with attendees who are also sharing their calendars with us.
To go along with this, to support showing other's events when they have shared their calendar, maybe you guys could have the "duplicate" (from the shared event on other user's calendars) show up for 5 seconds when I check/uncheck the box next to the listing for their calendar. This way I CAN see that they are busy for the time slot, but I don't have to see it continuously. This would allow us to still see that someone is booked for the associated time slot, but then the entry would fade away after ~ 5 seconds, to prevent the duplicate listing from cluttering the day's view. After all, it is good to be able to see that someone is booked during the time slot, for purposes of knowing their schedule. It's just not good for a day to be completely filled with 10 entries for the same meeting, because we have chosen to share our calendars with each other.
See the screenshot I attached to this post as an example of a duplicated event from all the invitee's shared calendar's listings.
Thanks for considering this request.
